Job description

This role will require weekend working.

As a General Assistant in our Garden Care department, you will work alongside the existing team, to deliver the best possible shopping experience to our customers. This will include managing products such as fertilisers, tools, compost, and hard landscaping. The role involves outdoor work, heavy lifting, and providing excellent customer service.

Main Duties:

  • Provide outstanding customer service, advising customers on gardening products and answering their queries.
  • Assist with processing deliveries, pricing stock, restocking shelves, and monitoring stock levels to ensure product availability.
  • Maintain high retail standards by keeping displays tidy, organised, and safe for both customers and colleagues.
  • Support customers with heavy lifting, ensuring they have a positive and hassle-free shopping experience.
  • Follow health and safety requirements to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist with general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and welcoming department.

Requirements of the Role:

  • Knowledge of gardening and retail is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with a friendly and helpful attitude.
  • Ability to lift heavy items and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • A proactive and organised approach, with the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Passion for gardening and an enthusiastic, hardworking attitude..

Rates displayed are for 21+, competitive rates for 16–20 year-olds.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £11.50 per hour 

Experience:

  • Customer service: 1 year (preferred)

Work Location: In person

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Every weekend
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability
