Job description

This role will require weekend working.

As a General Assistant in our Garden Care department, you will work alongside the existing team, to deliver the best possible shopping experience to our customers. This will include managing products such as fertilisers, tools, compost, and hard landscaping. The role involves outdoor work, heavy lifting, and providing excellent customer service.

Main Duties:

  • Providing the best possible customer service, by advising customers on products, answer queries, and ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • Process deliveries, pricing stock, restock shelves, and monitor stock levels.
  • Maintaining high standards within the department by keeping displays tidy, organized and safe for both customers and colleagues.
  • Support customers with heavy lifting.
  • Adhere to health and safety requirements.
  • General housekeeping.

Requirements of the Role:

  • Knowledge of gardening and retail is preferred.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy items and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Proactive, organized, and team-oriented, with a passion for gardening.
  • This role suits someone enthusiastic, hardworking, and passionate about gardening.

Rates displayed are for 21+, competitive rates for 18–20 year-olds.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £11.50 per hour 

Experience:

  • Customer service: 1 year (preferred)

Work Location: In person

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Every weekend
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability
