Job description

The café Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the café, ensuring a smooth, efficient, and high-quality service experience for customers. This role involves managing colleagues, coordinating front-of-house activities, addressing customer concerns, and supporting the café manager in implementing operational policies and procedures. The Café Supervisor ensures a welcoming and professional environment while maintaining high standards of service.

Main Duties:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily front-of-house operations, including seating, customer service, and overall café flow.
  • Manage and motivate café teams, to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Monitor colleague performance, providing guidance, training, and feedback to maintain high service standards.
  • Handle customer complaints and special requests promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Assist with inventory management, including ordering supplies and ensuring stock levels are maintained.
  • Ensure all health, safety, and hygiene regulations are followed by colleagues and maintained in all areas of the café.
  • Assist in scheduling shifts, ensuring the café is adequately staffed during peak times.
  • Support the café manager in implementing operational policies and ensuring smooth service during busy periods.
  • Monitor the quality and presentation of food and drinks served to customers.

Requirements of the Role:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a restaurant or hospitality setting.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, able to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.

  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in café operations.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks under pressure.

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.

Rate shown is for those aged 21 and over, competitive rates for ages 16 – 20.

Job Types: Permanent – Full & Part-Time Available

Pay: From £12.50 – £13.50 per hour, based on experience

Experience: Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
