Job description

The Pastry Chef specializes in creating and preparing baked goods, pastries, desserts, and other confections. This role involves developing dessert menus, overseeing the pastry section, and ensuring high-quality standards in taste and presentation. The Pastry Chef combines creativity with technical baking skills to enhance the dining experience, often working closely with the Senior Chef to complement the main menu.

Main Duties:

  • Develop, test, and refine recipes for a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods.
  • Plan and design dessert menus that align with the restaurant’s style and seasonal ingredients.
  • Oversee and manage daily operations of the pastry section, including scheduling and supervising pastry team.
  • Prepare and decorate pastries and desserts with attention to detail and presentation.
  • Monitor inventory levels, order ingredients, and manage stock rotation to minimize waste.
  • Ensure that all baked goods meet quality standards in flavor, texture, and appearance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the pastry kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to create unique and complementary desserts for special events or seasonal menus.

Requirements of the Role:

  • Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or in a dedicated pastry role within a professional kitchen.

  • Culinary degree or specialized training in pastry and baking is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, flavor profiles, and baking methods.

  • Excellent attention to detail, creativity, and a flair for dessert presentation.

  • Ability to manage time effectively and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of food safety, storage, and sanitation practices.

Rate shown is for those aged 21 and over, competitive rates for ages 16 – 20.

Job Types: Permanent – Full & Part-Time Available

Pay: From £14per hour, based on experience

Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or in a dedicated pastry role within a professional kitchen.
  • Culinary degree or specialized training in pastry and baking is preferred.
